Where is she?

Where is she?

Creature – Khrisna Canning

What happened to that child?

That child whose last worry was being loved by a man.

That child who only wanted to do better than she was yesterday—every single day.

That child with a fire burning so brightly inside her,

A fire that could ignite purpose wherever she went—whether big or small.

What happened to that fire?

The fire that once seemed unquenchable,

Not by the words of man,

Not even by the flicker of her greatest fears.

What happened to those fears?

The ones she could once silence with a single breath.

How did they grow into chains,

Dragging her around like a dog on a leash?

What happened to that leash?

The one she used to tie down her worries,

To hold her anxiety in check,

To remind herself she could conquer anything.

What happened to her?

What has she become?

Why has she let herself drift so far,

So hollow, so empty?

She watches now as her hope,

Her purpose, her dreams,

Leak away from their source.

From her.

Why has this child allowed herself

To become HER

Gives room for deep self reflection and how man’s greatest drive are internal forces.
